Brands Making A Difference

Taking care of our planet is essential, and there's never a better time to start reducing your carbon footprint than right now! Thankfully, more and more companies are making a conscious effort to make environmentally friendly choices. Here at SlayBoxes, our mission is to reduce unnecessary waste by finding the specific products which work best for our customers and thus, reduce the amount of 're-purchasing required. Re-purchasing (something we've all been guilty of at some point) is where you purchase new grooming products, only to quickly discard them because they don't work for you. Without assistance from an expert, this cycle may continue, with inappropriate products continually being purchased and thrown out, contributing to unnecessary plastic waste.

We're also proud to declare that all of our boxes here are packed using completely recycled packaging materials, so you can crack open your Slaybox guilt-free when it arrives at your doorstep, knowing you did your part to shop sensibly.

As well as watching our own carbon footprint, we also ensure we partner with grooming and wellbeing brands that make healthy, sustainable choices. Whether it's through the ingredients they use or the packaging, here are several brands we are affiliated with that are making a difference.

ManCave

ManCave is a fantastic company, and one Slayboxes has been fortunate enough to work with for a while now. Their fantastic range of products (everything from shower gel to beard oil) is "formulated with carefully selected ingredients to help provide the best that clean and natural has to offer, without compromising on performance."Using solely natural ingredients also means that all of their products are Cruelty-Free certified, and Vegan friendly.

ManCave believe "Less is More", and proudly proclaim their products include no parabens, sulphates, or synthetic dyes. Basically, none of the bad stuff that most other skincare products are filled with. As for their packaging, all of their tubes are 100% recyclable and BPA compliant. Meaning they can be easily recycled without even having to remove any caps or labels.

Bulldog

Bulldog has been a staple of skincare since it was founded in 2005. A highly successful brand, there's no doubt you've seen their moisturiser lining store shelves, and for good reason. They cater to every skin type possible, specifically formulated for men, in order to make you look and feel great. Almost all of Bulldog's products are developed and manufactured right here in the UK, using natural ingredients such as camelina, green tea and aloe vera. As their doggie-based name implies, Bulldog are also animal lovers, never using ingredients from animal sources while being certified by Cruelty-Free International. All of their products are suitable for vegetarians and vegans and their mission statement is to never use any plastic microbeads, synthetic fragrances or artificial colours. Perhaps the most exciting step Bulldog is making in the battle against climate change is their new First Mile Recycling Scheme. With help from First Mile, a London based green energy service, Bulldog have developed a new system where after your products are finished, you can mail your empty white tubes back to them, and, once received, they are recycled and turned in to brand new plastic tubes. Even better, the whole process is carbon neutral, so the gas created by the project is actually the same gas that powers it. This whole system is very exciting and potentially a hugely progressive step for large companies to be taking. If you're interested and want to read more about it, simply click this link:

The Body Shop

The Body Shop is the oldest company we have been fortunate enough to work with, but that doesn't make them any less forward-thinking. The Body Shop makes up 1/4 of Natura & Co, a connected network of Avon, Aesop, and Natura; who, together, comprise the 4th largest pure-play beauty company in the world. Natura & Co proudly promote their image as an eco-friendly and sustainable company, as well as garnering positive press by using real men and women, rather than supermodels. In terms of making a difference, The Body Shop's mission is to be a driving force within the beauty industry; taking action against climate change by creating more sustainable sourcing and also using their large global voice to rally important causes.

Last year, Natura & Co joined forces to uphold EU cosmetics animal test bans, which were in jeopardy of being exploited. With the help of animal protection groups, they wrote an open letter to the EU, garnering support from hundreds of other beauty companies in an effort to ensure thousands of animals remained safe. The Body Shop are also fully committed to the protection of the amazon, donating millions of dollars to local Amazonian communities and pooling their collective efforts in order to produce zero deforestation by 2025.

Dr Botanicals

When talking about brands that are currently making a difference in the world, it doesn't get much better than Dr Botanicals.

Developed in 2012, Dr Botanicals is an independent beauty shop from London as well as a proudly owned LGBTQ brand. Self-proclaimed: "natural beauty junkies", they set out to make great skincare products that were 100% vegan friendly. With a massive variety of items, including serums, oils, shampoo, body lotions and bath bombs, Dr Botanicals formulations are created to harness nature's vitamins and leave your body feeling revitalised. Cruelty-free and never tested on animals, Dr Botanicals hope to be using purely recycled products in their packaging by 2023, as well as be completely carbon-free by 2025. With big plans ahead, this company isn't slowing down anytime soon, with their main promise to consumers being to constantly challenge themselves by making fantastic products that continue to be toxic-free.

Using effective skincare and grooming products is an amazing feeling, but knowing everything you are applying is 100% natural, easily recycled and cruelty-free, makes that feeling even better! Many of these brands frequently feature in our Slay Boxes and we couldn't be happier to be partnered with them. If you wish to try any specific items, simply talk to a Slay consultant below and we can set you up with some of the most environmentally friendly products currently on the market.

Happy Earth Day everyone!
